MRS. BARONNER

MRS. ZORGER

WELCOME TO OUR FOURTH GRADE WEBPAGE.

The Fourth Grade offers a variety of learning opportunities throughout the year. These will include, but are not limited to, our Houghton Mifflin reading series. The themes in the series include all language arts, which are reading, spelling, and grammar.

Math in Fourth Grade covers a wide range of standards including place value, the four basic operations, fractions, decimals, geometry, graphing and probability. All chapters in the 4th grade text include simple algebra skills.

***SPECIAL NOTE: Our students are required to memorize the multiplication facts from the ones table to the twelves table. We use charts, strip tests, timed tests, games, and friendly competitions to aid our students in this goal.

Harcourt Pennsylvania Science offers a wide range of topics for the Fourth Grade. These topics are aligned with the Pennsylvania State Standards. They include: The World of Living Things, Looking At Ecosystems, Earth Changing Surface, Weather and Space, Matter and Energy, and Forces In Motion

As we begin our Science studies in Fourth Grade, it is extremely important that our students learn the Scientific Method which includes:
1. Observe and Ask Questions
2. Form a Hypothesis
3. Plan an Experiment
4. Conduct an Experiment
5. Draw Conclusions and Communicate Results

Pennsylvania is the focus of Fourth Grade Social Studies. The students will learn its history, state symbols, government, agriculture, animal life, and its cities through a concentrated program. This program is culminated with a cooperative project and annual field trip to the State Capitol.
