First Grade is My Jam

Hello! I'm Mrs. Bumbarger and I've been teaching for 14 years.  The past 4 years have been at Baker, and I currently teach first grade.  I've also taught Kindergarten at Baker, Preschool at The Learning Express, and Learning Support at the Junior High!  Before coming the the AASD, I taught Autistic Support for Pyramid Healthcare and I also taught first grade in NY.  I attended Bloomsburg University, where I majored in Elementary and Special Education with a concentration in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.  I obtained my Masters degree from Walden University in Elementary Reading and Literacy.
I am married and have 3 children.  Natalie is a second grader this year at Baker, Hank is 4 years old and Cash turned 2 this summer.  I live in Altoona with my family and two dogs, Bear (German Shepherd) and Chesney (Dachshund) who are both 8.  I enjoy being outside, hiking, exploring new places, going to festivals and concerts, country music, biking, swimming, running, working out, beach vacations, spending time with my family and I LOVE to read!  I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan and have read the series a few times and am now enjoying them again with my daughter.  I volunteer and assist with ESL classes in the community and help with kids services at our church.
My favorite thing about being a teacher is seeing how much my students grow each year!!
